Description

Summary

AvtechTyee is seeking an energetic, inquisitive, and disciplined Human Resources Intern for projects covering (pick the two that best suit your interest and skills):

1) Automating the onboarding administrative process using ADP HRIS,

2) Designing a Training & Development Catalogue for departmental branding,

3) Creating a Total Compensation Statement program/process to support retention/engagement, 4) Developing a robust Change Management SOP to introduce/support a more holistic approach and welcoming cultural response to the constant change inherent in the aerospace industry, and/or

5) Audit, improve, and implement modernized HR Records Retention & Disposal process to mitigate risk.

The candidate will interface with several critical functional groups within the business, including: Operations, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.  The candidate will contribute to a team that works with all aspects of the employment relationship, including but not limited to: Hiring and Separations, Benefits, Compensation, Training & Development, Leaves, Employee Relations, and Safety.  This is a project-based, process-focused role where the candidate will be responsible for specific deliverables at the end of the internship as referenced above.  While project-based, the internship is designed to be “real-world” experience and the candidate should expect to spend as much as 50% of the time engaged with actual day-to-day departmental and business demands which will require/develop proficiency in prioritizing and multi-tasking. In addition, the candidate will rely on skills relating to organizational ability, tactical and strategic thinking, interpersonal savvy, composure under duress, business acumen, balancing empathy with business demands, and professional oral and written communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivers substantial and consistent progress against particular project assignment while maintaining high-quality output
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services provided
  • Provides audit support as needed to internal and external customers
  • Responds appropriately with professionalism and sense of urgency to internal customer inquiries and departmental needs
  • Presents a competent and composed demeanor, representing the company with professionalism  to all stakeholders (including but not limited to applicants, employees, contractors, vendors, and customers) to successfully advance the interests of the company
  • Follows all environmental health and safety policies and procedures, models safe work practices
  • Responsible for contributing to and supporting a positive and respectful workplace environment
  • Ongoing self-development and personal growth as an employee
  • Other duties as assigned

Project Description

The candidate will be able to choose a primary and a secondary project as listed in the Summary above.

Project Deliverables:

  • Hard deliverables per project:
    • Fully automated and legally compliant ADP or WebHR onboarding process
    • Fully realized AvtechTyee Training & Development Catalog, complete with enterprise-consistent graphics, which delineates program details as well as available courses/seminars/etc. organized by competency
    • Fully automated Total Compensation Statement program which produces employee statement on demand delineating all forms of compensation and related annualized dollar value (including but not limited to: training investment, education reimbursement, fringe benefits, bonuses, engagement investments, etc.)
    • Operating Procedure, Work Instructions, relevant Forms, Communicatiom Plan, and Training Plan completed for Change Management Program
    • Operating Procedure, Work Instructions, and Risk Analysis completed for HR Records Retention and Disposal Process
  • Soft deliverables across all projects: (integration, communication, relationships, etc.)
    • Reputation for excellent customer service and collaboration across all functional groups
    • Enhanced HR brand across the enterpise
  • Formal project report out and presentation to the leadership team

Intern will complete a confidential pre-internship survey describing goals and expectations and a confidential post-internship survey evaluating the program, the department, and the company as a whole.  Human Resources will use this information to provide feedback and coaching to employees involved in the program and to drive improvements to the Internship Program overall.



Requirements

Desired Education and Experience

  • Junior or Senior pursing Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, or Business Administration with HR focus
  • At last 2 years’ work experience in any non-familial capacity
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

**Must be authorized to work in the U.S.**

**Due to the time-limited nature of the internship program and to conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government
